Q3test, V3/Banshee/Voodoo2/Voodoo Graphics with GLX
GLX is the OpenGL interface into X. So if you want to run from the X server or in the case of Voodoo 3 & Banshee you have to, then here you go.
- Assumptions:
- The paths used to Q3test are the ones that are used with the rpm install.
- You have /usr/local/glide/bin/test3Dfx working at least in 1024x768.
- The files that you downloaded are in the current directory.
- You have the root password for your machine.
- Q3test files:
- ftp.cdrom.com/pub/idgames/idstuff/quake3/linux/ Get the most recent rpm.
- My Q3test script
- Installing:
- "su" (become root)
- "rpm -Uvh q3test-1.08-glibc-2.i386.tar.gz"
- "cp q3.script /usr/lib/q3"
Or another directory in your path
- "chmod g+x /usr/bin/q3"
Make it executable by the group
- "chown root:(your userid) /usr/bin/q3"
Make you ID the group ID
- In a x-terminal do: "q3"
- Read the q3 script for instructions on how to change resolutions
- Problems?
- If you change something while in q3, screwing it up and next time you start q3 it still has the problem:
Remove .q3a/demoq3/q3config.cfg off of your home directory. Sometimes starting q3 the second time will do it also.
- I have had to do this because of the mouse not working in the q3 menu.
