So Mike: I'm suddenly curious. Why do you endure such grief with mail
orer wehn you have a Micro Center like right next o you? In the last
Micro Center flyer, they had Acer 24" widescreens (1920x1200) with
1000:1 contrast for $349. Now, I'm not going to say that the LG people
were lying about 3000:1 contrast, but I suspect their measurement
techniques are, uh, non-standard. You really don't see a claim like
that very often.
Any way, as far as I can tell, Micro Center prices on most things are
decently close to mail order, you can see the item in the store, and
returning it is a lot more likely to work for you. Basically, it's
Fry's with somewhat smaller stores, slightly shorter lines, and
hit-or-miss customer service, which is also a lot like Fry's. They
also have a chalkboard up in the Build-your-own-PC showing that they
match NewEgg's (usually it's NewEgg's) prices on CPUs and such and
Crucial's price on RAM.
