[MLUG] anti-spam/virus gateways?

i'm looking for a good (preferably free, open-source) anti-spam/virus
gateway that can be installed on a pre-existing windows 2003 server?
currently, we run symantec's mail security for smtp (v.4.x). this can
only be installed on windows 2000 servers, and as of late it seems to
suck pretty bad.

i'm entertaining the thought of putting a cheap linux box running
spamassassin, clamav, etc on it, but hoped to find an alternative to
be installed on my web/ftp server to route incoming mail. we use
novell groupwise 7 (currently running on netware) for email.

any thoughts?
