I have had experience with both of these CMS's in the past and I have a
website running with an older version of Nuke. Nuke is nice and light
weight and was somewhat simple to create a template for. Joomla is more
robust and has a great community following and support. I personally
dislike the programming style used in both CMSs however. I am an
advocate for a clear separation between the data layer, business layer,
and user interface as that allows for maximum efficiency and code reuse.
Neither really follow that design practice. phpNuke less so that
Joomla.
You might consider taking a look at dotNET-Nuke also. It is based from
phpNuke except it is written in asp.NET VB. It has a very robust and
top notch data layer that is geared for Microsoft SQL. A few minor
adjustments would allow it to work with most other databases out there
such as MySQL or Oracle. I actually took that VB.NET code and
translated it to C#.NET for the project that I am working on now
(leaving full credit to the dotNet-Nuke team in the header of both
classes of course).
Hope this helps.

I was looking at setting one of these up. I have been looking at
PHP-Nuke
and also Joomla. Anyone used both of these and have some pros and cons
of
them?
Thanks.

Answer: Why is putting a reply at the top of the message frowned upon?
