[MLUG] MLUG lists altering content type?

I send messages with this:

Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

But when they come through MLUG Discussion list, that line is changed to 
this:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

The "format=flowed" is removed.  Any idea why that is happening?
