If you're writing a history of MLUG, definitely mention Ryan Dooley.
He did a lot for the group from the beginning, not the least of which
was setting up and running the server and the mailing list. He might
have had something to do with procuring the COE meeting space that we
used several times in those days, but I don't know for sure.

A lot of people contributed to the Alternative Computing Fair which
was quite memorable. The installfest in the student union not long
after that was fun, too. I had moved to St. Louis by the time those
events happened, but I was fortunate enough to be able to attend.

I started using Linux in the fall of 94. Not long after that I helped
build and run a Linux web server for student government and student
groups. By the time Keith started MLUG I was doing Linux sysadmin and
web stuff for a living. I already knew some of the other early
members like Paul Saab and David Lloyd. So it was great to be able to
hang out and talk about geeky stuff, especially since I had returned
to Columbia after spending six months in the KC area and didn't have a
lot of other regular opportunities to meet up with folks I knew.
