The list of updates to 8.04 includes Firefox 3 Beta 4 on Ubuntu's page I believe.
That sounds to me like they're set on Beta 4.
While not ideal, I see it as only a minor detail.
There are good reasons to ship a large software release with the version of a redistributable that the software release was tested with, which I imagine is/was Beta 4.

I'm looking forward to it!

NOTE:  For anyone who has been thinking about trying Linux or revisiting Linux, this release includes some new or updated items that make for an even more compelling case for checking it out!
For example, you can install it in Windows to try it out, before you decide to install on a partition.
Don't like it enough?  Just delete it from within

It looks like Hardy will come with Firefox 3... are they shipping it with a beta or will Firefox 3 be released before the 24th?

That's a good question.  Firefox 3 is due shortly.  Beta 5 was released two weeks ago.  They plan to release 3 in "early 2008."

My guess is that they are hoping that it won't be a beta.
