At the server level, I'd expect most hardware to be supported very well
by LTS. 7.10 might support some newer hardware, but not necessarily to
the same level of stability.
Really the question I'd be asking is whether 6.06 provides the necessary
applications I need. You're going to get older application versions, but
they'll be much better tested and should in theory be rock solid.
I'm currently deploying two Xen virtual servers, one with 6.06 LTS where
it meets all my needs, the other will run 7.10 for a couple of GIS apps
where I need more up to date applications than are available on 6.06.
Don't think 7.10 will have more bug fixes just because it has a higher
version number. The LTS version still gets support, so bug fixes get
back ported where necessary. Indeed, 7.10 may have more bugs not yet
fixed simply because it is so new.
It's a case of horses for courses I'm afraid.
Russell.
