When I installed Gutsy on my tablet I discovered that they have desktop
effects turned on by default on the live cd. The tablet is an 800mhz 256mb
machine so needless to say it took forever to get gnome up and running. I
also had to have my swap space set up before I could even load the
installer. Once everything got started though, the desktop effects worked
very well even on a low power machine. As cool as desktop effects are,
having them on by default on the installer live cd is a pain. I still
think they should provide a dialog asking if you would like to enable
desktop effects after the installer gets running.

FYI, I did the upgrade process (you could force it yesterday) on my
laptop and it appears to have worked flawlessly.
Beryl even continued to work during the upgrade.

For anyone that does not know, Ubuntu 7.10 (a.k.a. Gutsy Gibbon I
believe) is out today.
FYI: There seems to be one prompt earlier in this upgrade than there
was when I upped from 6.10 to 7.04.
Am looking forward to checking out the updates, especially the easier
user switching, as my wife reluctantly switches from my login to hers
in 7.04, however she doesn't like to learn too many new things with
the computer.
