In the "Proprietary version vs. free and open source edition" section of
the Wikipedia entry for VirtualBox, I see this:

So that means that USB devices will not work in Windows under VirtualBox.
I thought at first reading that it only meant that the USB was not
available remotely. That probably will be important for me because we may
be doing some things with a USB barcode label printer.
As for the Microshaft comment... That sounds like something they'd do.
Always trying to find a way to con you into buying their software. I'm
sure the Linux community will find a way around it though. :-)
Maybe -- it's reading the registry information. I read about it here in
the "Microsoft and Wine" section of this Wikipedia article:
