A company I was doing some work phone was doing some interesting things with Java and cell phones. He was saying that they were able to handle just about any phone that was labeled a "smartphone".

Something to look into.

A friend here just told me that he wants to collect data from subjects
about their eating habits (I think) and he'll want them to send data to
him from their cell phones by text messaging.  He's wondering if there is
some kind of template that he can use where they fill out the form and
submit it.  It sounds like a good idea, but I don't know what might be
available.  I assume he'll have to use a certain phone if he's going to
run a software program -- phones can't all be alike.

Any ideas?  Linux ideas are welcome, but I wonder if there is a little
linux phone that can do this kind of thing and doesn't cost too much.
