Beth Young (MOREnet) thought you guys might find this interesting. They
have a vested interest, of course. ;] But the e-mail says so, so it's
not like they're being sneaky about it.

Patti and I are holding our first mentor class for SANS 309: Intro to
Information Security! We are excited about this opportunity to bring
quality security information to the Columbia area.
The SANS 309 class is the prefect class for those just starting out in
security or for those managers that need to understand how security
impacts the day-to-day operations of a business. The course covers such
items as writing security policy, introduction the OSI model and TCP/IP
packets, introduction to cryptography and disaster recovery/business
continuity planning.
I have included the information from SANS below. The link to register
is http://www.sans.org/info/10816. When you register please, enter
"MENTOR RECRUIT" into the Comments section during the online
registration. We get credit for students that we recruit to the mentor
program so please do that step! SANS wants to make sure we are doing
our part to make this course a success but we need your help to do that.
Also, please pass this message along to other people/groups that might
be interested in this SANS course. If you have any questions, please
contact me (EMAIL:PROTECTED) or Patti (EMAIL:PROTECTED).
Thanks! See you in class in September!
Beth and Patti

Plan now to join us in Columbia for Security 309: SANS Intro to
Information Security in the Mentor format beginning Tuesday, September
18. SANS Mentors Beth Young and Patti Dudenhoeffer will lead this
course, for complete course details, please click on
http://www.sans.org/info/10816.
WHY MENTOR?
Mentors and students agree that the biggest advantage students get from
the Mentor Program, http://www.sans.org/info/10821, is the opportunity
to digest the Security 309: SANS Intro to Information course material
much more comfortably over 10 weeks as opposed to just six days at a
SANS training event. Also, many mentor-led students report that the
high value of networking with professional peers in the area is a huge
additional benefit to this program.
With the SANS Mentor program, you save money 25% off the regular SANS
tuition fee rate, http://www.sans.org/info/10816 (save even more with
tuition discounts offered below!). No need to spend extra money on
travel and living expenses; no need to be away from work and family for
a week. Mentors Beth Young and Patti Dudenhoeffer will lead you through
the course material and get you prepared to attempt the GISF
Certification. Plus, SANS promises that you will be able to use what you
learn in the classroom as soon as you return to the office after each of
the10 class sessions!
TUITION DISCOUNTS!
SANS offers group registration discounts for 2 or more students who
register from the same organization. To obtain the Group Discount fee
and Registration Code offered for this course, contact Miranda Ruddick
at EMAIL:PROTECTED PRIOR to registering, and provide the names and
e-mail addresses of all the students registering within your
organization.
Does this sound like the kind of training that would help you be more
effective in your job? Then register today at
http://www.sans.org/info/10816 and see for yourself the excellent value
of SANS training and GIAC certification!
If you have any questions about this course offering, please contact
