Unfortunately, OOXML is neither from Open Office, nor open in any real
sense of the word. It's proprietary with a thin veneer of openness to
allow MS to continue their attempts of monopolizing document standards.
Use of OOXML (i.e., translators, etc...) require licensing from MS.

it stands for Office Open XML. It wasn't developed by the Open Office
team, it was developed by Microsoft. I knew Microsoft had developed an
open XML standard, but I didn't know it was called OOXML! They must
have done this intentionally.
