this is why i dislike fedora, and even red hat, now. they removed the
one feature that i always used, the "minimal install" option. i won't
use them outside of work.

now, you _have_ to install a lot of bloat into the system unless you
want to spend hours customizing.

my suggestion, ubuntu server or debian.

Maybe you could create your own custom kickstart script. then you could exclude all the rpms you don't really want.

 btw, have you used Centos?  it's based off of redhat as well, but is a
little more enterprise level than fedora, not quite so bleeding edge.
