This is one way to move from the enthusiast market to the mainstream
market. Most people only care about a few programs and functions for
their computers. We have to make those things work for free under Linux
and we're in. What does that include? Web browser, email client, word
processor, spreadsheet, what else? We need for a few things to work such
as digital cameras and scanners.
Digital cameras should work if they follow the USB mass storage class.

I don't know about scanners. My old HP parallel port scanner works fine.
