That's the same motherboard I just ordered for my MythTv system. Be aware

Ah; good point. We were planning on 1 GB, which should be fine for Linux
plus 256MB for the video card, right?
What are the options? I know on my system I could allow use of system
memory by the video card, or block that, but I might also be able to
control how much is used. Not sure on that. I think 1 GB sounds like it
will work, but if you have performance problems, you should check if other
configurations are possible, and if that fails, add more memory.
I guess this is one of the things you can try out
and if it isn't working add more RAM. I know there are ways to control
the amount of memory used by the video card, probably in the CMOS
settings. So you should be able to try some other settings if you don't
like the performance you are getting.
I think I should look a bit more carefully at the optical drive
situation; some of those could be not so nice, I suppose.
We've been using Lite-On DVD±RW/CD-RW drives and have had no problems.
We're using Windows though, but I don't now if that's important. It is
good to have a drive that can write to both DVD+R and DVD-R. Lite-On
drives are inexpensive.
