Hi Jim-
Welcome to the list! What kind of video card are you running? (at
command prompt try: lspci)
Hot keys may be a bit more involved (a kernel re-compile possibly).
Do you know what sort of chipset your Tosh has?
Hope we can help,
George

I am new to this list. I hope you guys are doing well. I am
currently a graduate student at MU and will be here a few more years.
I installed Fedora on my laptop about three weeks ago. I have it
configured to dual boot WinXP and Fedora Core 6. Most everything
works fine, except for two real annoying problems.
1) I can’t get dual head to work
2) I can’t decrease screen brightness because the hotkeys
don’t work
My Laptop is a Toshiba M45-S269.
-- Dual Head --
I can get either the laptop screen to work or the monitor to work
separately just fine. Also, I am able to get both working at once,
but they both display the same stuff.
I can’t get my desktop to span the two, nor can I get them working
as independent consoles.
-- Screen Brightness --
It would be nice to get the hotkeys to work, but just being able to
adjust screen brightness would satisfy me because it is too bright
to use comfortably. Some info I found says I need to recompile
Fedora with Toshiba ACPI support enabled. I don’t have time to do
that now with finals coming up. Isn’t there a quick and dirty way
to decrease screen brightness without a recompile?
Any and all help is appreciated.
