Yes, but the extremely good support is a relatively recent development, 
and followed hard after a long period of really terrible support.  So it 
is not so much that you were uninformed as not quite totally up to 
date.  (And the contrast between the bad support and good support is so 
stark, that you almost think you are dealing with a different product.)

My 11 year old found the game bzflag very much fun.  And with the 5200 
it is plenty awesome enough.  I think your 11 year old will really love 
it too.  (And if you have a computer each, you can play against each 
other - indeed playing my son was the only way I could win at the game, 
as the people on the internet were unbeatable.)
