I guess Y2K was taken a little more seriously and the work had to be done 
years in advance, so we weren't getting a lot of little things to do at 
the last minute.

I have to say in Microsoft's favor - at least they got XP patched in 
plenty of time.  Also Red Hat and probably other Linux distros are set.
