Would any of you happen to know where I need to go to get a patch for the DST problem for Solaris (8)? I found this and the FAQ but it was surprisingly hard to find the patch:

My Linux box is all set, needless to say, as are all XP boxes. It is funny to see on the Sun site information for organizations that pay more than $30,000 to patch their Solaris machines. I'm willing to pay maybe $12.50 if they don't make me fill out a lot of forms. I can do the DST change by hand if I have to!

Another good plan: Dump Solaris altogether and move everything to Linux.

One of our IT guys tells me he has heard that Sun is not giving free patches for this. He's checking on University site licenses.

Thanks a lot, Sun! :-(

If anyone knows how this is handled by hand, let me know.

Apparently I can change the Time Zone and DST by hand, probably in...

/etc/default/init

...but I'm not sure what to do after that.

I would think that this will only be a problem this weekend and then twice in the Fall because if it tries to change on April 1, it won't matter because it is already changed. My understanding is that it changes zone/DST settings only and leaves the system clock alone (which is set by ntpdate to have the correct UTC).
