Nice! They are the D Series... Great hardware... but, they skimped on the warranty :( 3-year mail in plan.

Yikes upgrade from 2k to XP can cause problems with drivers. Touch pads also tend to have software back ends that 2k will cling to and carry over into your XP install...
What make and model of notebook?


Have you tried an Ubuntu LiveCD? What you see on the LiveCD is literally what you get on the install.
