I use the Linux command-line, nano text editor, the rpl command-line tool, and gimp. That lets me do pretty much everything I need to do in a very efficient way. I host my development server and development platform both in VMWare. I ssh images to the server as needed and do my text editing directly on the server through ssh. I've been doing it pretty much the same for more than a decade and still think it works better than any fancy editor or coding tools.

Does anyone here use Eclipse? I just downloaded the PDT and it looks pretty good. Iâve been using jEdit for awhile but want to move to a better development tool. Iâm worried about Dreamweaver because of web standards (XHTML strict, accessibility), and DW has a history of inserting a lot of ugly code that doesnât validate. I hear Nvu works well, too. Whatâs your tool of choice and why?

I do mostly web development on Windows/Linux: PHP, XHTML and CSS, but will also be developing with PeopleCode, Oracle, etc. in the near future.

Thanks,
