What about Mac? They will have to follow suit, of course, but are they yet?

Now wondering if I should try to scrape up the $$ to buy a Mac before the bushel goes bad,
Dave

p.s. And a spare HDD or two.

I bought a new video card tonight, while the card I bought did not have it, there were other cards that were already printed with "HDCP Ready" on the box. Now, apparently these cards are not fully ready, but it is not going to be long before they are.

The idea that hardware companies are going to reject this specification and force Microsoft's hand is ludicrous. Forget it, not going to happen. Hardware manufacturers are going to support it and I would be surprised if they are not falling over one another to attempt to be the first ones out with fully compatible hardware.

I'm not optimistic either. M$ is the 800-pound gorilla in computing and
people are going to buy Vista. If hardware manufacturers produce
    products
that don't work with Vista, they'll be screwed. So they will comply.

By the way, on another LUG some people were saying stuff like "Microsoft
is screwed now", etc. But if you look at stats from web sites that
    read
the OS from people's browsers, Windows OSs have 96+% of market share and
Linux has 0.37%. That's quite a difference and it will take many
    years to
    catch up!
