You are exactly right to the nearest degree! ;-) That is on our list of
things to look up -- which labels can handle -80 without coming loose,
breaking or smearing?

It is very important that the labels work. There is no point in labels
that fall off!
There are companies that specialize in thermal labels. They could
probably advise on expected lifetime. I don't think extreme cold is a
problem, but extreme heat obviously is! Maybe the polypropylene
labels would last longer than paper.
