I would have put that info right on top! I also think this is good for the members list. It sounds like interesting work.

Hello everyone,

First an introduction: I manage the Systems and Programming group over
at MOREnet (part of UM-System). Mostly FreeBSD and Solaris, also the odd
(very odd) Linux box. I think I was at the first or a very early MLUG
meeting, but unsubscribed when all the list talked about was getting X
to work on Linux. I resubscribed recently to see how the community is
doing, and maybe to promote USENIX and SAGE (and LOPSA) from time to time.
But, here I find myself promoting something almost entirely off-topic:

Boone County needs technical-minded people to help troubleshoot the
electronic voting machines next Tuesday. That means you. Here is what
I know:

1. Troubleshooters are not election judges. You don't have to deal
  with voters, just machines.

2. There is a three-hour training session TOMORROW NIGHT (Thursday)
at the old MBS warehouse on Paris to learn about the equipment.

3. You are requested to spend an additional couple hours any time
Friday through Monday playing with the equipment.

4. Election day is a marathon--4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.--being available
to troubleshoot machines at polling places.

5. This is all paid work, at or above $10/hour. Dunno about mileage.

6. Interested individuals should call 886-4375 and ask for Elections.

That's all I know. If you have any questions, call and ask the County.

Regards,

David K. Drum
