Hi Gang-
I'm close very close...
crack open a terminal and issue the command links www.google.com
(text based web browsing is my friend)
how can I "grep" that page for text? e.g. links www.google.com | grep
Lucky >> results.txt
or is there an easier way?
Feature request for the internet... a command line ;)
End Goal:
I'm trying to script warranty information from Dell's website and I
have a HUGE list of Service Tags that I don't want to go through by
hand (yea I'm lazy but, the list is huge).
I've found that I can input the service tag as a variable from finding
that the site will accept the following URL:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/en/details?ServiceTag=12345#skipMH
where ServiceTag=$mytaghere :) :)
But, I want to be able to snag the Ship Date, the Warranty End date
and a few other goodies that are returned and be able to play with
those on my own. View source of the results isn't promising but, links
displays the results perfectly.
perl is my favorite for scripting but, if you have a better solution
or language I'm all ears (OS X is also an option) I'd prefer to stay
far far away from VB.
Any help or suggestions would rock,
Thanks,
George
