I'm sure you're on to something there. Looking at the manual, I see
nothing about gamma correction. I cannot adjust it.
Sometimes you can adjust it at the video card, although it is preferable
to adjust it at the monitor when you are using a digital connection.
Yes! I have a very nice video card (GEForce 7600 GT) and it has
adjustments for brightness, contrast, gamma and more. I messed with that
a little, messed with the monitor settings a little, and I was able to get
it pretty close to the Viewsonic.
So now I have to update my review of the Hanns and say that it doesn't
have as many adjustment options as some monitors, but with DVI and a good
video card, you can get a lot out of it.
It's always a trick to figure out how to get the right colors. How can I
tell that I've nailed it? Is there a standard way of testing? I guess I
just have to rely on my feel for it.
It's really great to see the price coming down on these things. Someday
everyone I work with will have nice DVI display and I won't get headaches
ever again!
