I know you've already gotten this advice (keep it simple), but maybe
consider ditching the DVI, and going with a name brand on the monitor.
Samsung makes some nice, inexpensive flat panels, with a good reputation
for solid equipment. Sure, it's not as flash, but if the monitor goes
south, then you still have (less expensive) options.
Since you mention that this isn't a serious-use computer, I'd keep the
processor as cheap as possible. Sempron is a great choice, but you can
go cheaper than the one you've got picked out.
Samsung also makes some really nice, quiet hard drives. Though
price-wise you're not looking at much difference there.
When I last built a box for my wife's parents, I used the Ars Technica
budget box guide as a resource for navigating the various choices. You
