many small improvements in the HAL, but unless you are having problems
with stability or security, you don't have to update the HAL. That's my
best guess. I would update the HAL once every several months unless they
suggested that a new update was important.

If you use the same logic for windows most people might install one
out of four patches that are released after checking to see if that
effects them. The majority of people will do what I do and just apply
all the updates that come out "just to be on the safe side".
