I've got a broadcom based card working in Debian with WPAS. Can you
tell us a little more about your configuration? Is the network you are
trying to connect to using encryption? can you c/p the output of
ifconfig and iwconfig. (Need to sudo both)
I'd recommend sticking to the command line for the initial
configuration until you get it working as its the best way to see any
errors or issues that get thrown.
As for the "not sticking," are you running "iwconfig commit" after
making changes? The iwconfig man page says "Some cards may not apply
changes done through wireless extensions immediately"
Also, after setting the stuff with iwconfig, you need to bring up the
interface with ifup.

laptop with
me @ work, so if anyone could just point me in the right direction it'd
be
appreciated!
