Some of you were talking
about Ubuntu last week (I sent this but the server was down): I installed Ubuntu on my
notebook (Acer Aspire 5003, Broadcom nic) last week, and I can't for the life
of me get my wireless lan to work. I've followed this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=25683&pp=10
and this http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/Installation#Install_Windows_driver I can now get my card to
show up in Networking, and it shows the wireless interface info (although
nothing is set) in "iwconfig". If I do a "iwlist wlan0
scan" it shows nothing (but I can access the network in Windows). If
I try "iwconfig wlan0 essid [ESSID]" it says 'ok' but nothing sticks.
I have a feeling that it may have something to do with the enabling/disabling
the card (there is a button on the front of the laptop that does this) and in
the first link, they say set RadioState to 0 – I’m not sure why. I don't have the laptop with
me @ work, so if anyone could just point me in the right direction it'd be
appreciated! Jared Davis Internet Administrator Residential Life University of Missouri-Columbia 100 Pershing Hall (573) 884-3616 |
