Well, I'm no EE (my dad is an EE prof, though, he recently retired from
Rolla). The item in question definitely says 40.000k. I'm pretty sure
DigiKey part #XC973-ND is a match:

Yeah, Eagle Electronics, very nice. Just had a little window, you would
hand them your parts list, stand around for a couple minutes, and they'd
hand you back what they had. Just a 5 minute bike ride from my house.

The old one does. The new one still smells like new carpet.

The downstairs of the old building, though. That smell is permanently
associated in my mind with 'Adventure'. And tiny bits of yellow paper.
