One note about paying iTunes for songs - remember that they are not free
(as in speech) and you are at apple's whim to change how you can listen
to content you "own" at any time. They've done it before (see:

I know solutions exist to remove the DRM (PyMusique for *nix and
SharpMusique for windows boxes without Python), but it can be a hassle
having to "free' music you legally purchased.

By the way, there are F/OSS iTunes clones now that are *more* functional
than iTunes itself. That is, they allow you to re-download songs you own
without paying for them again and they don't implement some of the
iTunes DRM restrictions out of the box. Worth looking into if you use
iTunes a lot. Keep a copy of the original software around, by the way,
as the unofficial clients occassionally get broken by upgrades.
