Gentoo 2006.0 was released on the 27th...   I managed to snag an .iso 
with no problems and completed a stage1 install via GUI on a laptop 
(Dell c640)!!!  It took some time but, through a GUI!  Well, I thought 
Gentoo was hardcore as in lets kill some brain cells and waste years 
watching compiler output go by...  not any more :( the GUI is a full 
Gnome environment with standard software, the simple installer wizard is 
a shortcut on the desktop that asks you a few questions and you are good 
to go.

Those who were avoiding Gentoo no longer have a reason to be afraid.
