- Thread-topic: [MLUG] Wireless NIC on SuSE 10
OK, I have made ground tonight. I found a version on the install disk
that compiles. So I did the ndiswrapper -i /path as su.
I then confirmed that it was installed by typing ndiswrapper -l again as
su.
The next step was to modprobe ndiswrapper.
I was given no errors, just brought back to the command prompt.
I then attempted to configure the card.
iwconfig wlan0 essid key restricted <hex> I simply typed in the hex key
here.
Ok here is where the back stopped.
Here is the error that I got back...
Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A):
Set failed for device wlan0; No such device
Where do I go from here?
Mike

I would have to agree about just building ndiswrapper from source. I am
not very good at doing source builds and that is the only way that I
install ndiswrapper. Besides if you upgrade your kernel then you will
have to rebuild ndiswrapper anyway or be without wireless until somebody
makes a new rpm.
