I think they were discussed a bit in the Blackdog thread.

I want to see them project images onto the air like in Star Trek.  Have 
no wall, will travel.

Then folks behind you can see, and people in front of you and the image 
can see too... just.. backwards :)

Then the next step is to let you be able to touch the projected display 
to select things ala The Minority Report and Tenchi Muyo (Washu's 
laboratory), etc.
