Looks like an ancient version of mindterm. The most recent ones, I'm fairly sure, include support for SSH2. Mindterm also includes a nifty FTP->SCP bridge, not many people know about that. If you've got a piece of software like the older Dreamweaver that only talks FTP, you can pipe it through Mindterm for secure file transfer to your server.

As an alternative when you find yourself in need of some SSH love, go download PuTTY: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

I really like PuTTY because it's installer-less; that is, you download an executable and that's what you run. No installation, no dlls, nothing. Very low-impact if you're a 'guest' on a machine but amazingly full-featured. I believe it does leave behind a few small auto-generated configuration files in a user's Windows profile but that's not really a big deal. It's also perfect to put on a keychain USB flash drive because it can run right from there.

In terms of file-transfer via 'scp' and the like, I've been using FileZilla for some time now and love it. It's not lightweight like PuTTY, but it's got a nice interface and talks all types of secure file transfer protocols.

Just checking out the java based ssh client on mlug as I think it would be a very useful thing to have on my 1and1 accounts, as I keep getting landed on other people's computers which have no ssh clients and needing to mash on a bit of code.

The certificate came up as invalid and I chose to ignore and accept anyways.

The client opened and gave me the following:

Error connecting to mlug.missouri.edu, reason:
-> MindTerm do not support SSHv2 yet, enable SSHv1 compatibility in server.

Other than the grammatical error, which I spotted for myself *grin*, does anyone know what's up?

Thanks.

Also.... is the discussion list dead???? I'm used to being flooded, and now all I hear are crickets and the occasional car engine going by on the highway. Didn't want to annoy the list with a ping.
