I run Gnome 2.12 on a Ubuntu Linux machine, never have used BSD. It looks a lot like Gnome 2.10 except that it has an applications menu editor and you can have custom mouse cursors now without having to hack the theme files (maybe that was in 2.10 and wasn't in 2.8- I forget.) There are probably other improvements as well. It's pretty nice either way. I have upgraded from different Gnome versions on Linux and the only gotchas I have ever seen would be those that result from dependency problems or corrupted/overly modified config files. As long as you don't have unsatisfied dependencies or have hacked 2.10 to oblivion, you should be fine.

Has anyone updated Gnome form 2.10 to 2.12 yet on a FreeBSD box? Today
looks like a good day to try it but just wanted to know if there were
any gotchas.
