I'd suggest getting Mac Mini's with a small flat panel monitor. 15"
maybe? Either leave it running OS X or install Linux. OS X might be
better if they have access to shrinkwrapped software but not broadband.
Linux would be better if they have access to broadband but not
shrinkwrap software. If neither then I'd suggest leaving OS X on there
but itstall a lot of useful free programs like OpenOffice, GIMP, etc.
You can get a Mini and a cheap monitor for around $500 so it shouldn't
break your budget to much and you could easily carry a couple with you.
