- Thread-topic: dead drive
OK I have tried
everything I can think of to get an image of this drive with no luck. I
have an idea to keep from having to reinstall everything but first some
background:
OS:
FC4
OS makeup: 3 drives,
1 CD
Pri/Mst: /
Pri/Slv: swap, /var (dead)
Sec/Mst: /home
Sec/Slv: CD
OK here is what I
was thinking: If I image the Pri/Mst and Sec/Mst drives, setup the new
Pri/Slv drive like the one that died, install FC4 with the same partition
makeup, then restore the Pri/Mst and Sec/Mst images. Would this
work? I just do not want to have to reinstall PHP4, UW-IMAP, PROFTPD, and
a few other non FC4 standard packages not to mention uninstalling things that I
do not need or want on my server.
