Fixed it. I managed to hunt down the .so files from my old install's directory and symbolically linked.

I've got it, but how do you get Java to work correctly? I run SuSE 9.3 and tried installing the java-plugin (both the new 1.5.0 version from Sun and the 1.4.2 version included with the SuSE 9.3 discs) but none work. Do I need to copy a file to my plugins? Help would be appreciated.

Sadly, it STILL doesn't support the CSS text-shadow property. THAT is really the only place I can say Safari has better CSS support than Firefox and it irks me cus I like text-shadow. Anyway I use it and Safari can see it for now.. maybe IE, Opera, and Firefox someday. :)

Again.. look at http://dev.openmouth.info/alt/ in these different browsers to see what I mean. The content text has a slight shadow in Safari that makes it seem to pop off the page.

I guess I was just busy or something. Anyway, it's out! The big cool
things for this seem to be:

0) New version of Gecko
1) Really almost usable SVG.
2) More CSS3 support
3) Javascript 1.6, aka we added some useful methods to the Array class
4) MathML

The whole list is here: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/1.5beta1.html
I'm happy about the improved Mac OS X performance, and the vastly
improved performance in some places. (This beta is, however really
slow at rendering a few sites for reasons I cannot figure out. yahoo.com was excruciating the first time.)

Anyway, this does well with many (but, alas, not all) of the SVG
examples at http://www.croczilla.com/svg/samples/

If anybody knows of a canonical SVG test suite, I'd like to know.

One unfortunate thing is that it is incompatible with the current
version of greasemonkey.
