/"I'll bet that Igor could get into the Ivy League schools (but they
probably don't give you a good bang for your buck)." /
Oh, yes. My brother is just finishing up summer school at Harvard (he's
taking organic 1, 2, and the lab.) He hates it up there- the food is
awful, his dorms not air-conditioned, and the interior of the buildings
makes the Physics auditoriums look good. And it cost him over a year's
worth of tuition here. He's glad to be done with organic, but he has a
newfound appreciation for MU. Frankly, I was a little surprised. Harvard
is supposed to be excellent and it turns out that it at least to him,
it's subpar. The meatloaf served three times a week and their
high-school-gym-sized rec center clinched it for him!
Oh, and their wireless is crappy- I know this. We'd chat over IM and
he'd drop on and off constantly (it might be the fact that he uses
Windows, but their APs might suck.) They do not even use WEP- fully
unencrypted.
I tried to get him to switch to Linux but he isn't that hot to the idea.
He does envy my computer which is more or less similar to his running
faster and more stably, but he has also seen me write scripts for
wireless config (fairly simple stuff) and compile apps from source (also
simple). That kind of scared him off- it looks rather imposing. Ditto
for my girlfriend, but recent problems with a wireless card driver
causing BSODs has made her inquire a bit about it. (It is a new
Atheros-based card and might work with madwifi drivers, else ndiswrapper
might be called for.) That and the fact that she has used my computer
for Web browsing and e-mail and found it little different from hers as
Firefox on XP is the same as Firefox on Linux.

Looks like he's attenting my alma mater. And doing well too.
I'll say. He must have been a freshman and he placed third in the
school. UMR is a good school, but Igor I'll bet that Igor could get
into the Ivy League schools (but they probably don't give you a good
bang for your buck).
OK, I found an email address from UMR's student search, which I'm
CC'ing.
Thanks.
