I was thinking the same thing, Jon. If my memory can be trusted, you were
the first to mention Ruby on this list, and that was quite a few years
ago.
I'm still thinking that maybe the Ruby tutorial would be a nice way to get
him started with some of the basic ideas, then move to the Python tutorial
and let him work with Python for a while. That way he would see that
there are different languages, how they are different and how they are
alike (the "alike" part is probably most important). He would get the
benefit of the nice Ruby tutorial and the easy availability of Python
code.
