I've heard that python can be a Bitch to learn.
I havent tried Phthon myself, but a Gentoo developer
from Missouri doesnt like it.

Please not PHP. Teach him Perl or something.

Python began as a teaching language.  I would recommend it as the new
BASIC. It teaches pretty good habits, and you can build large systems
with it.  It's quite easy to get started in -- there's an interactive
command interpreter, like the BASIC systems of old.
