I can see one of the points here as well. IBM has never been known for
building things inexpensively. I think cost is another huge area of
this. Think about it. The one main reason people have for not using
Macs is for the processing power you get, the speed of use, you end up
paying more for a comparably equipped Mac.

This is another area I think Jobs is looking. If he wants to compete
in the desktop market he has to get his prices down, and get
developers to build for his platform. Two things he really lacks right
now. First step in my book would get the prices down so I could get a
larger user base, do that and the developers will come.
