Well Apple says it is because IBM is unable to meet the demand. I
wonder how much of it also has something to do with Apple wanting to
release more upgrades. It seems they are much slower coming out with
faster processors than INTEL of AMD.

I think another thought process might be to make it easier for Apple
to come out with a x86 version of the Apple OS. This can't be a bad
thing for the Apple lovers out there. There is now way to know for
sure what Jobs has up his sleeve, but he might be ready to actually
start gunning for Microsoft in the OS department and just might be
able to do it if he can get a platform that is very close to the x86
platform.
