This is particularly important in scripting languages with variadic run-time
typing, such as Perl, PHP, Python, Groovy, etc.
Python doesn't suffer from such problems because it doesn't let you set
data inside of a conditional check. Sort of the brute force method of
avoiding these kind of problems. Takes some getting used to but isn't a
big deal. On the other hand I don't remember making such an error in my
coding, in any language, for several years. But then I'm pretty anal
about my coding standards. Very rigid methods of how I enter code such
that I avoid these kinds of errors.
