I have a AMD 64 bit processor (3000+) on a server I built a month or so
back. I installed Fedora 3 x86_64 on it and so far it's lived up to my
expections except for software that was not originally written for 64 bit
processors that is written poorly.
I have a few apps I need to run which are looking for different files or
libaries in a directory that does not exist because it's the 64 bit build.
I also have some programs that will not even compile/install because of
the x86_64 build.
My questions are
1) how much slower will Fedora 3 run with the i386 build if I just use
that for a while?
2) can I upgrade to the x86_64 bit build after more apps become stable on
the 64 bit platform at a later date?
Kyle
