- Thread-topic: New LAN organization in town
Hey everyone,
A short while ago, I requested advice from this group for a good distro
choice to use with a dedicated Unreal Tournament 2004 server for a new
LAN organization in town. The consensus was to use Gentoo,
unfortunately the mobo that I ordered (Asus K8S-MX) is a bit too new for
full Linux support that Gentoo proved to be too much a pain to install.
So changing out the SATA for SCSI, adding a PCI nic, and going with
Fedora 64, I am proud to say that box is up and going strong with
several different game types (CTF, deathmatch, etc) of UT2k4 running as
daemons. But all this is beside the point.
Since some of you showed interest in the LAN (and I promise this is the
only post I will make with this advertisement since it is off topic) I
am actually posting to officially announce that Columbia has again a LAN
for Mid MO gamers. MaxxLAN (http://momaxxlan.org - still somewhat under
construction) has been born from of the ashes of the former Columbia
Clan (http://columbiaclan.org). I would like to offer invitation to
everyone on this list to come and join us at our grand opening event on
May 7th at the Stony Creek Inn. Event registration and info will be
available on our web site very soon.
Games to be played:
* UT2k4
* Battlefield 1942/Vietnam
* any other game you feel like bring for additional pickup games
So, check out our site, sign up for an account, and come on out to our
show if you have a day for some fun times of fraggin. Hope to see ya
there!
Adam (aka Cuervas)
P.S. please direct any questions directly to me offlist or on the
MaxxLAN forums
