I use COIN dialup and kppp works great with it. If
you have a graphical account with COIN you can log in
as a text user or a graphical user. To use the
graphical user it uses PAP authentication. With kppp,
in the account setup make sure PAP/CHAP authentication
is set. The rest of the defaults are correct and do
not need to be changed.

What it looks like is that kenternet is trying to log
in like a text user and then start ppp, the way the
old showme accounts use to work. COIN is different in
that pppd needs to be started when you receive the
prompts and it will authenticate your computer using
your pap-secrets file in /etc/ppp. If you want to
setup scripts to dial in from the console, I can give
you the scripts that I wrote.
